Regenerative Neighborhoods

Regenerative neighborhoods are the sustainable wave of the future!   This new concept makes highly efficient use of space and resources, while bringing together like minded folks to have as neighbors.  As space on the  planet becomes limited, it is becoming important to utilize your property for optimum sustainablity!  With a regenerative neighborhood, you  share certain resources like a front gate, road infastructure, water systems, and green zones,  but maintain privacy and ownership of your home and yard.  You also have a shared common interest with your neighbors in organic landscaping and health of the planet!

Modern Eco-Tropical Home

Our team of contractors has nearly 30 years of experience building homes in Costa Rica, ensuring high-quality construction and a stress-free building process.
Our design team is well versed in the requirements of tropical living and has
created highly functional and beautiful designs. We focus on using resilient locally sourced materials, passive cooling strategies, a good mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, and a functional layout designed around tropical living. We have
a variety of model homes to choose from, and also have a team of designers, architects, and engineers available for custom designs. Please inquire and we will be happy to send you renderings and details on our offerings.

Solar Hot Water

Heating water is one of the largest energy consumers in a home. By utilizing roof-mounted solar collectors we can offset a majority of this energy every day the sun
is out, which happens to be most days of the year here in Costa Rica.

These systems include solar heating collectors and a 200 liter insulated stainless steel tank. They also come with a digital control panel, so can be customized to your personal temp settings. If the temperature in the tank ever drops below your preset choice, the electric element will automatically heat the tank and keep it above your minimum desired temperature.

production, known for their ability to produce the highest amount of protein by

landscaped area, making it a great place to relax and enjoy.

Pond System Includes:

Chickens are the ideal animal for a homestead and provide many benefits such as egg and meat production, fertilization, pest control, and a lot of entertainment for a Sunday afternoon. Like all animals, Chickens love to be free to roam in the great outdoors. Not only does this make for happier animals, but it also greatly increases the nutrient value of their meat and eggs. Incorporated in the chicken system will be a large fenced free
range area split into two sections so they can be rotated between areas.

The greenhouse is a simple open-air roofed structure that offers the perfect growing environment for your veggie garden. Your greenhouse will come complete with compost-amended garden beds ready for planting. We will also be happy to help plant your first round of vegetables when you are
ready.

Staple Crop Garden

The contour staple garden is a large outdoor garden space. This garden will consist of both annual and perennial plants and will focus on hardy native varieties throughout the year and will include more delicate annuals during the
dry season. Your contour staple garden will include compost amended garden beds, swales for water infiltration, vetiver hedges for erosion control and mulch, and walking paths. The garden is designed and laid out on contour to ensure even water distribution and minimal soil erosion. And of course, we will be planting your staple garden with a large diversity of food. Some examples of the foods that can be produced in this garden are:

Yucca, Nampi (Taro), Name (Yam), Ginger, Turmeric, Tiquizque (Giant Taro), Camote (Sweet Potato), Sagu, Sugarcane, Corn, Beans, Squash, Peanuts,
Pigeon Peas, Jicama, Chayote, Sacha Inchi Nut, Okra and many, many more.

Food Forest ( Tropical Orchard)

One of the most productive systems in the agricultural world is a tropical food
forest. This system will provide a huge surplus of food for your homestead, as well as create an ideal ecosystem for a wide variety of creatures. The food forest will encompass many layers of plants and trees, therefore utilizing all usable horizontal as well as vertical spaces. This type of system is much more productive than a standard fruit orchard and also has a much healthier ecosystem due to the incredible amount of diversity.

Your food forest will include a huge variety of tropical fruits, flowering pollinating plants, nitrogen-fixing shrubs, food-producing palms, chop and drop mulch, erosion control hedges, and an endless supply of bananas.

Privacy Hedges

Beautiful flowering hedges will be planted in different areas on your homestead to help create more privacy where needed, and also serve as erosion control on edges.

Perennial/Ornamental landscaping

Perennial plants are one of the foundations of any well-designed permaculture system. They require very little care, are adapted to the local climate, and offer a very high nutritional value. Here in the tropics, perennial plants provide for you all year and don’t die back as they would in temperate climates. We will utilize the spaces surrounding your yard to give you easy access to these plants for daily consumption.

The perennial plants we will utilize for this system will include herbs, salad veggies, steamer greens, medicinals, and small snack fruits. Some examples include katuk, cranberry hibiscus, bele, chaya, oregano, mint, ginger, turmeric, rosemary, aloe vera, kang kong, hot chiles, moringa, lemongrass, lemon drop mangosteen, miracle fruit and more.

Tropical flowering plants are both abundant and thrive here in Costa Rica. Ornamental landscaping will be used throughout your homestead to provide aesthetic beauty, but will also play another very important role as a pollinator to attract all the beneficial insects, bees, butterflies, etc. Having beneficial insects present is key to a thriving ecosystem by providing pollination for your plants and fruit trees, act as a deterrent to unwanted pests, and bring balance in so many
other ways.
